This is precisely the problem Sunita Williams was faced with when trying to make sushi (or the closest possible equivalent) in space recently.
After a rather elaborate cleaning session, the tube of wasabi was stowed away and banished because "it's too dangerous"....which is a shame, as "psychologically [...] it's important to have food that makes you happy, that makes you smile."
