another giant

following up on a previous story on a giant fish, we have come to realise that the (sea) world is full of giants! in today's adventure, we are taking you to New Zealand, so far still know as the land of the long white cloud, but perhaps soon to be renamed land of the giant .... or shall we say collosal squid for all we know!

not only did this particular specimen (the largest of its kind ever caught) bring 450kg to the scales, apparently (according to "an expert" cited by the bbc), "calamari rings made from it would be like tractor tyres." Fancy that!

The bbc has kindly prepared a size comparison for those of us who cannot fathom the sheer "giganticness" of the much-more-than-giant squid. The mind boggles!
